about
I got a spam email one day in '05-'06 that had all sorts of gibberish sentences within. But these two sentences were in it:
"He had pills, and they would take away the pain, but they would also blur his thoughts. It would have been good to spit that bitter taste out, but he knew better than to do it."

I kept those two lines, sent them to my pal Mike and kiddingly suggested we both try to write and record a song using those words in 2-3 weeks' time. I'm not sure either of us met that deadline, but I ended up recording this corker with those two sentences only that owes a nod to Jonathan Richman's "Roadrunner" at the ending.
lyrics
Take Away the Pain

He had pills, and they would take away the pain,
but they would also blur his thoughts.

It would have been good to spit that bitter taste out,
but he knew better than to do it.
